APPLICATIONS ENGINEER About This Role Baker Hughes is seeking an Applications Engineer to lead well construction planning that prioritizes safety, efficiency, and optimal performance. In this position, you will be the technical backbone ensuring every well is meticulously engineered for success before operations commence. Working across departments with Service Delivery Coordinators, drilling engineers, and client teams, you will design precise well profiles, anticipate operational risks, and support safe, reliable execution from planning through completion. Your Key Responsibilities As an Applications Engineer, you will take ownership of the complete job cycle, moving seamlessly between pre-planning, active execution, and post-job analysis. You will partner with Service Delivery Coordinators and sales teams to fully understand client well construction and production objectives, then translate those requirements into optimized well designs that balance risk mitigation, cost efficiency, and revenue potential for Baker Hughes. Specifically, you will design well profiles and conduct comprehensive applications engineering work including risk mitigation and contingency planning. You will manage field incidents related to our products and services, participate in incident investigations when called upon, and provide technical sales support with product application recommendations. This role also involves handling special projects and maintaining strict adherence to our Job Cycle management process. What We're Looking For You will bring a bachelor's degree in engineering plus a minimum of five years of experience in well planning or applications engineering within drilling services. You need advanced English proficiency in both written and spoken communication. You must be available for travel to rig sites, customer facilities, and training sessions, and prepared to be on call outside standard business hours when needed. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to influence stakeholders, and excellent planning capabilities are essential.
