Job Description
CHILD PROTECTION SPECIALIST - MIGRATION & DISPLACEMENT, LEARNING (P-4)
Organization: UNICEF
Position Type: Fixed Term Appointment
Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya
Level: P-4
ABOUT THE ROLE
UNICEF's Global Programme Division is seeking a Child Protection Specialist to lead learning, evidence generation, and knowledge management within our migration and displacement work. Based at our Centre of Excellence in Nairobi, you will shape how the world responds to forced displacement and protects children on the move.
This position sits at the heart of UNICEF's engagement with the PROSPECTS Partnership—a multi-year, multi-country initiative funded by the Government of the Netherlands and implemented with IFC, ILO, UNHCR, and the World Bank across Eastern and Southern Africa and the Middle East and North Africa. PROSPECTS bridges humanitarian and development approaches to promote self-reliance, learning, and protection for displaced populations and host communities.
Your core responsibilities will include designing and operationalizing learning and knowledge management systems, capturing and synthesizing evidence to inform global policy dialogue, and generating flagship publications that shape international conversations. You will strengthen participatory learning processes that center youth and community voices, amplify successful models, and support their replication and scaling across regions.
Serving as a technical focal point for selected country offices, you will facilitate knowledge exchange, identify capacity-building needs, and translate global evidence into practical country-level solutions. Your work directly advances UNICEF's Strategic Plan (2026-2029) and the Global Programme Framework for Children on the Move.

Education
An advanced university degree (Master's or higher) in Public Policy, International Development, International Law, Social Sciences, Economics, Education, or a related field.
Experience
A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible professional experience in international development, including designing, managing, and coordinating multi-sectoral programmes in areas such as child protection, education, adolescent development, and social protection. Demonstrated experience managing complex multi-stakeholder partnerships is essential.
