Job Description
Collection Specialist/Representative
CHINT PVSTAR
We're seeking a dedicated Collection Specialist/Representative to join CHINT PVSTAR's dynamic payment collection operations across Kenya. This role sits at the heart of our business, ensuring steady cash flow while maintaining strong relationships with our network of collection agents and distributors.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
You'll manage daily interactions with payment collection agents and distributors within your jurisdiction, building and maintaining stable communication channels that keep our network operating smoothly. Working closely with our sales team, you'll identify and recruit collection agents in new areas, evaluating their local standing, collection capabilities, and community influence to strengthen our reach.
You'll serve as a crucial link between headquarters and field agents, communicating company policies, incentive programs, and regulatory updates about Safaricom access to ensure clear information flow without any message loss. Your training responsibilities will be substantial—you'll conduct skills development sessions for agency leaders and frontline staff covering customer psychology, mobile payment troubleshooting, overdue payment protocols, and effective follow-up techniques.
A significant part of your role involves market intelligence. You'll travel to major overdue customers (accounts over 90 days past due with substantial balances or lost contact) to develop collection strategies alongside agents. You'll gather real reasons for customer delinquency directly from the field—whether equipment failures, seasonal income fluctuations, or competitor interference—and report findings to our product and risk control teams.
You'll monitor agent performance daily, track collection progress against monthly targets, and trigger early warning interventions when consecutive monthly performance declines exceed five percent. You'll handle asset management responsibilities including verification, inventory, registration, and allocation of photovoltaic systems, maintaining accuracy between physical inventory and database records. You'll also investigate and report potential fraud indicators and maintain comprehensive asset transfer documentation from warehouse to agents to end-users.
Additional responsibilities include basic product troubleshooting, assisting technical teams with complex issues, and overseeing asset recovery, write-off, and disposal processes to maximize value.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You must be based in Nairobi and willing to undertake extended regional business trips. You'll need strong cross-cultural communication skills with demonstrated experience navigating diverse markets and communities. You're results-driven with excellent stress tolerance—this role demands handling pressure while maintaining your focus on targets and relationships.
