Job Description

CREW CHANGE DRIVER - MOMBASA Inchcape Shipping Services ABOUT US Inchcape Shipping Services operates a global network of over 250 offices staffed by more than 3,000 professionals, all working toward a vision of creating a connected world where customers can trade successfully and make informed decisions in every port. We serve a diverse customer base spanning the oil, cruise, container, and bulk commodity sectors, as well as naval, government, and intergovernmental organisations. THE ROLE As a Crew Change Driver, you will be the reliable and professional link between seafarers and their destinations. Your primary responsibility is ensuring the safe, efficient, and welcoming transportation of crew members between ports, airports, hotels, and medical facilities. This is a permanent, on-site position based in Mombasa that demands flexibility, attentiveness, and a genuine commitment to service excellence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Safe Driving and Vehicle Management You will operate vehicles safely and defensively across varying traffic conditions, weather patterns, and port environments. Your expertise with manual transmission vehicles is essential, as is your ability to navigate heavy traffic and challenging terrains. You will ensure full compliance with local traffic laws, port authority regulations, and company safety protocols while maintaining daily vehicle checks for roadworthiness, cleanliness, and fuel levels. Accurate record-keeping of mileage, trip logs, and fuel receipts is required. Crew Care and Hospitality You represent Inchcape to every crew member you transport. Many seafarers arrive fatigued from long journeys or extended sea time, so your warm, professional demeanor will set the tone for their port experience. You will assist with luggage handling during transfers, communicate clearly regarding transit times and safety procedures, and handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion, including transporting ill or injured crew to medical facilities. Coordination and Operational Communication You will work closely with the Port Agency and Operations teams to receive daily schedules and respond promptly to last-minute flight or vessel updates. Direct coordination with hotels ensures smooth check-ins and check-outs for crew members. Regular communication with ISS Operations control via MS Teams or designated platforms keeps all stakeholders informed from task initiation through completion. You will also brief crew on port guidelines, local customs, and security protocols while managing time meticulously to prevent delays for flight departures or vessel sailing. Flexible Availability This role requires a flexible shift roster including nights, early mornings, weekends, and public holidays to align with vessel schedules. You must be prepared to respond swiftly to urgent crew changes or medical emergencies. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Essential Qualifications You must hold a valid Class B Driver's License with a clean driving record and possess proven, long-term experience driving manual transmission vehicles. A minimum of three to five years of professional driving experience is required, ideally in maritime, tourism, corporate shuttle, or hospitality sectors. You demonstrate strong focus, patience, and alertness during night drives and extended waiting periods. Your coordination and time management skills allow you to operate effectively under pressure during irregular hours. Preferred Qualifications Certified training in defensive or safety driving is advantageous, as is a Diploma in Marine Studies. Experience handling international clients or maritime crew is valued. WHY JOIN INCHCAPE We invest in our people through career development opportunities, competitive salary packages, and a supportive team environment. You will work alongside talented, committed professionals who share our core values of Global Perspective, The Power of People, and Progress. We celebrate achievements through Value Award events and foster a workplace where diversity, equality, and inclusion are fundamental to everything we do. EMPLOYMENT TERMS This appointment is subject to satisfactory references and valid Right to Work documentation. Inchcape does not accept unsolicited resumes from recruitment agencies and accepts no responsibility for associated fees. Contract Type: Permanent Location: Mombasa, Kenya (On-Site)
