Job Description

DISABILITY INCLUSION FACILITATOR - YOUTH VOICE & EMPOWERMENT PROJECT Shining Hope For Communities POSITION OVERVIEW This is a contract-based, project-focused role supporting the Youth Voice & Empowerment (YVE) Project. Operating across informal settlements and designated implementation areas, you will serve as a champion for disability inclusion, working to dismantle barriers that prevent young people with disabilities from fully participating in and benefiting from program activities. Your core mission is straightforward: ensure that disability inclusion becomes woven into every aspect of how YVE operates. This means creating meaningful pathways for youth with disabilities to access leadership development, skills training, financial services, and employment opportunities while building organizational capability to sustain these efforts. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES You will drive inclusive implementation of all youth-focused programming—whether in leadership development, livelihoods training, or financial inclusion initiatives. This includes collaborating with project teams to identify and remove structural and practical barriers to participation. Your work will actively amplify the voices and leadership potential of young people with disabilities, ensuring they move beyond passive involvement to genuinely lead within project spaces and their communities. You will conduct thorough accessibility assessments across program activities and venues, then support the implementation of reasonable accommodations that enable equitable participation. Outreach forms a critical part of your role. You will build relationships with youth with disabilities through existing community networks and organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), creating trust-based pathways to program engagement. You will design and deliver targeted disability inclusion training for staff, partners, and youth leaders, shifting mindsets and building practical skills for facilitation that truly includes everyone. Finally, you will mentor and empower young people with disabilities to step into leadership roles, ensuring they have the support, confidence, and platforms to engage meaningfully in decision-making processes. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS This role requires specific expertise and commitment. You must demonstrate proven experience in disability inclusion work, ideally with demonstrated success in similar facilitation or coordination roles. Strong understanding of disability rights frameworks and the social model of disability is essential, alongside practical knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive program design. Your communication skills must be exceptional—you need the ability to sensitively and effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, from youth participants to organizational partners to government bodies. Proven experience mobilizing communities and building relationships with disability-led organizations is highly valued. Fluency in English is required; fluency in local languages relevant to your implementation area is advantageous. You should be comfortable working across informal settlement contexts and possess genuine cultural competence in these environments. A commitment to disability rights and social justice must be authentic—this role demands someone who brings both professional expertise and personal conviction to the work. HOW TO APPLY Interested candidates should submit applications detailing their relevant experience, qualifications, and vision for disability inclusion in youth empowerment programming.
