FIELD IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST – SITE SURVEY ENGINEER TECEZE / Sokify Freelance Dispatch POSITION OVERVIEW You will work as an onsite IT infrastructure specialist, conducting thorough technical assessments of client locations before installation, upgrade, or maintenance projects begin. Your role is to evaluate existing systems, identify potential challenges, and compile detailed findings that guide successful project execution. This is a dispatch-based freelance position offering flexibility and variety across multiple client sites. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Client Coordination Arrive at client premises and introduce yourself to the designated contact person. Review and clarify all survey requirements before beginning your assessment. Maintain professional communication throughout the site visit and brief the customer on your findings before departure. Physical Infrastructure Assessment Complete a comprehensive walkthrough of the installation site, documenting the current state of all IT equipment including network cabinets and racks, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and servers or storage systems where applicable. Power and Connectivity Verification Check the availability and operational condition of power outlets, backup power systems (UPS), network connectivity infrastructure, patch panels, internet and WAN connections, and grounding systems. Verify all prerequisites that must be in place before implementation work can begin. Spatial and Environmental Evaluation Measure available rack space and confirm equipment mounting compatibility. Assess room temperature, ventilation adequacy, physical accessibility for technicians, security restrictions, and health and safety considerations relevant to the installation. Documentation and Reporting Record cable routes and estimate required cable lengths for new installations. Capture detailed photographs of equipment racks, network devices, cable pathways, power distribution systems, and the overall installation area. Document all hardware models, serial numbers, and available ports. Identify potential risks, constraints, or project dependencies. Risk Analysis Compile a comprehensive assessment of any obstacles, hazards, or factors that could affect project success. Provide actionable recommendations for installation procedures or remediation steps. REQUIRED TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT Laptop computer, smartphone or digital camera, measuring tape, console cables (USB-to-Serial and RJ45), Ethernet patch cables, flashlight, basic screwdriver set, network cable tester (preferred), labeling materials, notepad and pen or digital note-taking application, and personal protective equipment as specified by site safety policies. DELIVERABLES Completed site survey report with photographs, detailed cable routing and distance measurements, rack space and power capacity assessment, full network infrastructure analysis, comprehensive risk and issues list, installation or remediation recommendations, and signed customer sign-off documentation where required.
