FINANCE OFFICER - Nairobi, Kenya Kuwa Pay, a dynamic fintech company revolutionizing cross-border payments across East Africa and beyond, is seeking a meticulous and proactive Finance Officer to strengthen our growing team. ABOUT THE ROLE You'll be the backbone of our financial operations, managing critical reconciliation tasks, statutory compliance, and partner communications that keep our payment ecosystem running smoothly. This role demands someone who thrives under pressure, masters detail, and understands the intricate landscape of mobile money, payment services, and government compliance. WHAT YOU BRING You have a minimum of 5 years of finance experience, ideally within financial institutions, mobile money operators, telecom companies, payment service providers, or payment-related businesses. Cross-border payment exposure is highly valued. You possess a solid grasp of mobile payment taxation and corporate tax obligations in Kenya. You're familiar with KRA (Kenya Revenue Authority) communication protocols, government payment deadlines, statutory filing requirements, and compliance frameworks. Your communication skills are sharp and professional—you liaise confidently with banks, mobile money operators, payment partners, and government agencies. Above all, you're responsible, detail-oriented, and manage time effectively, even when juggling competing priorities. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Reconcile company transaction records by cross-referencing bank statements, internal system records, and channel or operator statements. Maintain regular communication with banks, mobile money operators, payment partners, and KRA as needed. Track monthly collection details, settlement reports, VAT invoices, and supporting documentation meticulously. Calculate payroll and process statutory payments, including social security, health insurance, payroll taxes, VAT, and government levies. Spearhead tax compliance initiatives and ensure all statutory filings and payments meet deadlines. Handle additional finance-related duties as assigned.
