About the Role As an HRT Officer, you will join MSF International's Humanitarian Representation Team, reporting directly to the HRT East Africa Representative. Working from Nairobi, you will collaborate with experienced team members across the region and globally to strengthen MSF's relationships with crucial external stakeholders and advance the organisation's humanitarian priorities. The Humanitarian Representation Team plays a vital role in helping MSF understand, communicate with, and constructively influence external partners including governments, UN agencies, the African Union, multilateral institutions, and civil society organisations. This work protects MSF's ability to operate, advocates for needs-based humanitarian action, and amplifies MSF's on-ground experience and perspective. The team maintains strategic relationships across more than 20 regions worldwide, supported by a dedicated secretariat in Nairobi that covers East and Central Africa, African Union liaison, and broader international coordination. Key Responsibilities Your primary function will be supporting the East Africa and African Union Representatives through internal coordination and cross-team analysis. You will manage Interdesk meetings by preparing agendas, documenting discussions, distributing minutes, and tracking follow-up actions. You will maintain systematic information sharing between internal teams and the broader HRT network, ensuring critical updates, analysis, and meeting records circulate efficiently. Additionally, you will support MSF's external engagement and representation strategy in Nairobi. This includes helping develop and implement coordination plans, proposing and organising external meetings with senior visitors and key partners, preparing briefing materials, and when delegated, representing MSF directly in meetings. You will help raise operational concerns with external partners, advocate for improved access and humanitarian space, and maintain consistent follow-up on commitments and action points. You will also collaborate closely with communications and advocacy teams across MSF sections, contribute to digital platforms and tools that enable intersectional coordination, and maintain organised records of engagements, contacts, and strategic documents. Required Qualifications and Experience Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills, experience managing complex internal and external coordination, and ability to work effectively with diverse teams across different operational contexts. You should be comfortable with stakeholder engagement, comfortable drafting clear analysis and briefing materials, and capable of supporting senior-level representation work. Previous experience in humanitarian settings, international organisations, or diplomatic environments is valuable. Fluency in English is essential.
