INCLUSIVE EDUCATION CONSULTANT Location: Nairobi, Kenya | Position Type: National Consultant | Organization: UNICEF ABOUT UNICEF UNICEF exists to break down the barriers that stand between children and their futures. Whether it's poverty, violence, disease, or discrimination, we work alongside partners globally to remove these obstacles and ensure every child has access to the care, protection, and opportunities they deserve. We believe the early years of a child's life form the foundation for everything that comes after, which is why we're committed to giving children the very best start. THE ROLE We're seeking an Inclusive Education Consultant to join our Education Section in Nairobi. In this position, you'll play a vital role in advancing disability-inclusive education across our programs and initiatives. You'll provide expert technical guidance on education policy, assessment, and data processes while working collaboratively with schools, communities, government agencies, and civil society organizations to translate inclusive education principles into meaningful practice. YOUR BACKGROUND You'll bring at least five years of professional experience in social or international development, with demonstrated expertise in inclusive education and disability inclusion programming. Your advanced university degree should be in education (ideally with a focus on inclusive education), economics, social sciences, or international development. Experience in teacher education strengthens your candidacy. You'll have proven success providing technical inputs to education policy, assessment, or data initiatives, and you'll have worked effectively across diverse stakeholder groups including communities, schools, civil society, and government partners. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR You possess strong, current knowledge of disability inclusion and inclusive education practices, including emerging global strategies for effective disability-inclusive education planning and management. You're equally comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team. You'll demonstrate excellence in programme management, project implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. Professional proficiency in written and spoken English is essential, while knowledge of Swahili is highly valued.
