About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Network Technician Level 3 to join our team in Nairobi. This is a senior technical position where you'll take ownership of complex network infrastructure projects, provide expert-level troubleshooting, and mentor junior technical staff.
Your Responsibilities
You will troubleshoot, operate, repair and maintain high-complexity network equipment while performing sophisticated installations, moves, repairs, uninstalls, site surveys, and vendor coordination. Your day-to-day will include racking and stacking equipment, installing and swapping network devices such as switches and routers, and managing the complete lifecycle of network cabling installations and testing.
Beyond hands-on technical work, you'll lead teams of Level 1 and 2 technicians, conduct site surveys, interpret technical blueprints and drawings, and install, terminate, label and test cabling for telecom circuit demarcation extensions. You'll resolve the majority of field issues independently while maintaining professional standards throughout all interactions.
Key Requirements
You must hold advanced networking certifications—specifically CCNP or CCIE credentials. Your experience should span more than 9 years in network infrastructure roles. You'll need a deep understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, and DHCP protocols, with hands-on experience deploying and managing Cisco or equivalent networking equipment.
You must be capable of reading and interpreting technical blueprints, working proficiently with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems, and possess strong troubleshooting methodologies. Experience with Windows server environments and Active Directory is advantageous. You'll interface regularly with C-level executives and senior stakeholders, so exceptional communication and customer service skills are essential. Physical capability to lift equipment over 45 pounds is required.
Tools and Equipment Required
You'll need to provide or have access to a laptop running Microsoft Windows (minimum Windows 11), console cables, a terminal emulator program such as Putty, TeraTerm, or Poderosa, and a serial port connection (built-in or USB adapter). You must have Teams or Webex capability for NOC connectivity when required, along with a complete engineering toolkit and field-based networking support knowledge with OEM device-specific certifications.
