Job Description
PATIENT ASSISTANT
Join Sokify as a Patient Assistant and become an essential part of Kenya's healthcare delivery system. This role sits at the heart of patient care operations, where you'll create positive first impressions and support seamless experiences for patients navigating healthcare facilities.
THE ROLE
As a Patient Assistant, you will be the compassionate bridge between patients and healthcare providers. Your day-to-day work involves welcoming patients with warmth, guiding them through registration and facility navigation, and ensuring they receive attentive support throughout their visits. You'll work alongside nursing and medical staff to assist with non-clinical patient care, help maintain clean and safe patient environments, and communicate vital patient observations to the healthcare team. This position demands professionalism, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to patient confidentiality and safety protocols.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
You will greet patients upon arrival and guide them through registration, departmental procedures, and facility orientation. You'll provide hands-on support with patient mobility and comfort needs while assisting nursing staff with routine monitoring and vital sign documentation under supervision. Your organizational skills will shine as you manage filing, data entry, and appointment scheduling. You'll escort patients between departments, ensure patient areas remain clean and organized, and serve as an emotional anchor for both patients and their families during vulnerable moments. Prompt communication of patient concerns to medical staff, strict adherence to infection control standards, and unwavering confidentiality form the ethical backbone of this role.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You should hold a minimum high school diploma, with healthcare training or certification being advantageous. Healthcare facility experience is preferred but not essential if you possess strong interpersonal skills and genuine empathy for patient care. You're detail-oriented, organized, and reliable under pressure. Basic medical terminology knowledge is helpful. Physical capability to assist patients with mobility is required. Most importantly, you bring compassion, integrity, and a collaborative spirit to every interaction.
WORKING ARRANGEMENTS
This role involves shift-based work, including weekends and public holidays. You'll work in patient care environments with occasional physical demands and interact regularly with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
