This position is part of Bayer's Crop Science division, where visionaries tackle the world's most pressing challenges with energy, curiosity and unwavering dedication. Join a community of brilliant, diverse minds committed to making real differences in global health and food security.
The Role
Reporting to the RC Production Lead for East Africa, you'll own the planning, execution and oversight of all manufacturing operations for commercial maize seed production in Kenya. This is a role built for someone who demands excellence, drives continuous improvement and thrives in dynamic, quality-focused environments. You'll balance multiple priorities while maintaining absolute commitment to operational excellence, regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction.
What You'll Do
You'll serve as the key account manager and primary point of contact for all third-party Processing Service Providers, managing contracts to ensure service level agreements are consistently met. You'll oversee every stage of seed processing, storage and preservation to meet regulatory, business and customer specifications.
Your operational responsibilities include securing all required production consumables and regulatory approvals before each processing campaign, coordinating with warehouse teams to segregate and report non-conforming seeds, and delivering technical guidance to tolling sites to maintain seed quality throughout processing.
Quality control runs through everything you do. You'll monitor plant operations continuously from receiving through final product, conduct pre-processing and in-processing defect testing, collect reliable quality data for track and trace applications, and generate comprehensive seed quality reports shared weekly with stakeholders. You'll collaborate with field mission teams to investigate non-conformance issues and implement corrective and preventive actions. Maintaining at least 95% planning and bagging adherence is a core performance metric.
You'll also champion the Quality Management System, work with laboratory and quality release teams to ensure only compliant batches reach customers, and foster collaborative efforts across all functions to uphold the highest quality standards.
Who You Are
You hold a bachelor's degree in Agriculture Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related engineering discipline. You bring at least ten years of manufacturing experience, with prior agricultural or seed industry experience highly valued. Specific expertise in seed production, handling or seed technology is particularly desirable.
You're fluent in English, proficient with SAP and Microsoft Office, and known for building strong relationships and collaborative networks across teams. Above all, you're someone who believes continuous improvement isn't just a concept but a way of working.
