Job Description
Program Coordinator (Group Leader) - Nairobi
Austral Education Group
About the Role
Step into a dynamic position where you'll become the essential guide and liaison for MBA student groups and academic delegations exploring Nairobi. This isn't simply about tour guiding—you're crafting transformative experiences that blend business insights with cultural immersion. Working closely with our clients, you'll orchestrate their journey through corporate headquarters, lead them on enriching cultural explorations, and serve as their trusted expert on Nairobi's thriving business landscape and vibrant heritage. Your deep connection to the city will unlock doors and create moments that resonate long after their visit concludes.
Beyond guiding, you'll own the logistical coordination for each group's activities. This means liaising with transportation providers, confirming business appointments, accommodating dietary needs during group meals, and responding with quick thinking to any surprises that emerge. We're seeking resourceful, knowledgeable, and passionate freelancers ready to deliver excellence whenever our groups arrive in town.
The role demands flexibility—groups typically spend a full week in Nairobi with itineraries that span beyond standard business hours into evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary contact and trusted guide for each group throughout their Nairobi experience
• Lead participants through curated business meetings, cultural tours, and meaningful local experiences
• Coordinate all logistical elements including transportation arrangements, meeting confirmations, and group dining
• Respond swiftly and creatively to unexpected situations, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional client satisfaction
What We're Looking For
• Current Nairobi Residence: You must be based in Nairobi, Kenya
• Valid Tour Guide Certification: Possess an active, certified tour guide license
• Genuine Passion for Nairobi: Deep enthusiasm for sharing the city's unique heritage, culture, and business ecosystem with international audiences
• Comprehensive Local Expertise: Thorough understanding of Nairobi's demographics, economic landscape, business community, culture, and neighborhoods
• Fluent English Communication: Polished verbal communication abilities suited for international audiences
• Exceptional Organizational Skills: Punctual, dependable, and meticulous in execution
• Confident Group Leadership: Comfortable managing groups using both public and private transportation options
• Client-Centered Mindset: Dedicated to exceeding expectations and delivering outstanding satisfaction
• Self-Directed Problem Solver: Comfortable taking initiative, making independent decisions, and managing your time strategically

This project-based freelance role offers the perfect blend of flexibility and purpose. Balance this meaningful work with your other pursuits while building valuable experience in cross-cultural communication and client relations. You'll connect with accomplished international professionals and gain experiences that deepen your own understanding of what makes Nairobi exceptional.
