Regional Distribution Manager – Upper Rift Kenya Department: Operations Employment Type: Permanent – Full Time Location: Kenya About The Role Sun King is seeking a Regional Distribution Manager to lead the expansion and optimization of our distribution network across the Upper Rift region. In this field-based position, you will drive growth of the Sun King Rider Network, manage regional depot operations, and oversee the distribution of LPG and complementary products. You will lead teams across your assigned station regions, focusing on rider recruitment and performance, quality assurance, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence while ensuring all activities meet regulatory standards. Your Key Responsibilities Team Leadership and Development You will guide your teams through organizational change, identifying high-potential employees and creating personalized development plans. Through regular coaching, performance reviews, and engagement check-ins, you will set regional performance expectations aligned with company priorities. You will track key performance indicators across teams in collaboration with Territory Distribution Managers and Depot Executives, recognize strong contributions, and develop improvement strategies when performance gaps emerge. Rider Network Management You will recruit qualified riders for the Sun King Rider Network, complete all onboarding and KYC verification processes, and maintain rider numbers to achieve daily order completion rates above 95 percent. You will develop retention initiatives that enhance rider satisfaction and earnings while strengthening long-term participation in the network. As the primary Sun King Rider Network representative in your territory, you will engage with community leaders and local government on behalf of the organization. Safety and Compliance Ensuring rider safety is essential. You will verify that all riders have required personal protective equipment and safety gear, promote safe riding practices, and work with internal and external stakeholders to introduce safety improvements. You will also ensure all LPG distribution activities comply with national regulations and maintain necessary licenses and permits. Customer Service Excellence You will coach agents on customer care standards and accurate communication. You will develop and monitor customer satisfaction, NPS, and resolution time metrics. Through scheduled and unscheduled customer visits, you will verify product quality, gather feedback, and coordinate swift responses to operational issues from the field. Inventory and Cost Management You will implement effective inventory controls to maintain losses below 2 percent across LPG measurement devices, cylinders, gas, and other company assets. You will identify cost reduction opportunities, keep delivery expenses within approved budgets, and use delivery technology and tracking systems to enhance operational visibility and efficiency. Supply Chain and Distribution Operations You will coordinate LPG supply with approved vendors, oversee replenishment from warehouses to depots and regional facilities, and maintain optimal stock levels across all regions. You will coordinate delivery schedules between transport teams and refill stations, improve distribution efficiency through route planning, and manage the return of uninstalled equipment for quality assurance inspection and repair. What We're Looking For You hold a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field. You bring experience in logistics, supply chain management, or last-mile delivery operations, with a proven track record of delivering process improvements. You demonstrate strong data interpretation skills and make evidence-based decisions. You have experience managing third-party delivery providers and supplier contracts, coupled with proficiency in logistics and delivery management software. You communicate effectively in writing and verbally, work well with diverse stakeholders, and thrive in dynamic, fast-moving environments. You have tested and implemented new delivery methods such as tuk-tuks and motorcycles, and you can measure the impact of operational improvements on delivery efficiency and agent productivity. You are comfortable preparing reports and strategic recommendations for senior management on delivery optimization.
