Job Description
REGIONAL THEMATIC SPECIALIST (HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE AND RECOVERY)
ABOUT SOKIFY
Sokify is Kenya's premier online marketplace, connecting buyers and sellers across the country. We're dedicated to building trust, enabling commerce, and creating opportunity for everyone in our ecosystem.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We're seeking a Regional Thematic Specialist focused on Humanitarian Response and Recovery to join our team. Reporting directly to the Deputy Regional Director for Operations and guided by headquarters leadership, you'll play a critical role in advancing humanitarian initiatives across the region.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you'll provide expert guidance and support the rollout of institutional policies across our regional offices. You'll oversee programme quality and deliver thematic expertise to ensure consistent, evidence-based implementation that makes a real impact. Working alongside other regional teams, you'll help shape thought leadership around protecting vulnerable populations, addressing displacement challenges, and enabling safe migration pathways.
Your work will span both internal and external dimensions. You'll identify regional opportunities and risks, facilitate knowledge-sharing among teams, champion policy and research initiatives, and break down silos through cross-functional collaboration. Externally, you'll serve as the primary resource for humanitarian response expertise, offering strategic recommendations to government partners, regional organizations, and migration forums. For both IOM teams and partners across the region, you'll be the trusted authority on all matters related to humanitarian response and recovery.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds. Sokify is particularly interested in applications from qualified women candidates and individuals from underrepresented communities. We provide reasonable accommodations throughout our recruitment process and foster a workplace where diverse perspectives strengthen our mission.
First-tier priority is given to internal candidates and applicants from IOM member states currently underrepresented in professional-level positions. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
This is a professional-level position requiring substantial experience in humanitarian response, migration, and recovery operations.
