This is a comprehensive technology leadership position that sits at the heart of our operations, overseeing everything from core IT infrastructure and enterprise systems to data management and emerging technologies. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the reliability and security of all our IT systems while driving digital innovation across the organization. You will support staff across the business, manage critical ERP systems, ensure data integrity and compliance, and explore how artificial intelligence and automation can enhance our operational efficiency. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES IT Systems Support and Infrastructure You will install, configure and maintain servers, network infrastructure, workstations, printers and production-floor terminals across our facilities. You will continuously monitor system performance and uptime, taking a proactive approach to resolve issues before they impact production or business continuity. Your responsibilities include managing backups, disaster recovery procedures and business continuity plans for all critical systems, administering user accounts and access rights, and maintaining our IT asset inventory covering both hardware and software licenses. You will also implement and maintain cybersecurity controls including antivirus protection, firewalls, security patching and staff awareness programs to safeguard company and customer data. Additionally, you will manage relationships with external IT vendors, internet and telecommunications providers and hardware suppliers, overseeing service level agreements and contracts. ERP Management As our ERP system administrator and super-user, you will configure workflows, user roles and permissions while maintaining the accuracy and consistency of critical master data including materials, customers, vendors and chart of accounts. You will troubleshoot ERP issues, coordinate solutions with vendors or implementation partners, and manage upgrades, patches and module rollouts. Training and supporting end-users across all departments to use the ERP effectively will be essential to your success. You will also identify opportunities to automate manual processes within the ERP and integrate them with other business systems. Data Management and Reporting You will own the integrity, security and governance of all company data held in the ERP and related systems, conducting regular data quality audits. You will design and maintain dashboards and reports covering production, sales, inventory, finance and management needs. You will support management with ad hoc data extraction and analysis to inform decision-making, budgeting and reporting to the board and investors. Compliance with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 and our internal information security policies will be non-negotiable in all data handling activities. IT Support and Service Desk You will provide both first- and second-line technical support to all staff, logging, prioritizing and resolving support tickets within agreed service levels. Given the critical nature of production systems, you will prioritize issues affecting plant uptime. You will develop user guides and standard operating procedures to help staff become self-sufficient and reduce repeat support requests. AI Enablement and Digital Innovation You will identify, pilot and roll out practical AI-enabled tools to accelerate reporting, document drafting, data analysis and routine IT tasks. You will evaluate AI and machine learning use cases relevant to our operations, such as demand forecasting, predictive maintenance, production quality anomaly detection and inventory optimization, working with vendors or our ERP provider when specialist implementation is required. You will train staff on the safe, effective and policy-compliant use of AI tools, including considerations around data privacy and confidentiality. You will also keep leadership informed of cost-effective AI and automation developments applicable to our IT operations. Governance, Compliance and Continuous Improvement You will maintain IT policies, standard operating procedures and system documentation. You will support internal and external audits by providing system access logs, controls evidence and data extracts. You will recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, cost efficiency and user experience. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Educational Background You must hold a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a closely related field. Professional certifications are highly valued and may include ERP-specific certifications, ITIL Foundation, CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+, Microsoft or Cisco certifications, or project management certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2. Professional Experience You will have at least 4 to 6 years of progressive experience in IT systems support, with a minimum of 2 to 3 years of direct ERP system administration. Prior experience in a manufacturing, FMCG, industrial or plant-based environment is strongly preferred, as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational and production-system context. You will have demonstrated experience using or piloting AI-enabled tools in a business setting.
