Job Description
Sr. Regional Financial Investigator at World Vision International Kenya
About the Role
World Vision International, a leading global Christian relief and development organisation with 75 years of experience, is seeking a Senior Regional Financial Investigator to join our dedicated team across nearly 100 countries. In this position, you will take charge of complex financial investigations with substantial autonomy, reporting to the Senior Manager of Global Financial Investigations. Working to protect organisational integrity while advancing our mission to help vulnerable children overcome poverty, you will conduct thorough, independent investigations into allegations of fraud, corruption, and financial misconduct.
What You'll Do
You will initiate, plan, lead, and complete investigations into complex matters including fraud, corruption, bribery, embezzlement, theft, ethical violations, and mismanagement. Your investigative toolkit will include analysing financial records, reviewing Ethics Point data, conducting surveillance, performing computer forensic analysis, and interviewing witnesses and subjects. You will prepare comprehensive investigative reports, analytical presentations, and briefings for senior leadership, maintaining detailed documentation of investigation plans and findings.
Coordination across our global network is essential to this role. You will work collaboratively with WVI investigators across our Global Centre, National Offices, and Regional Offices, as well as with law enforcement, donors, NGOs, financial institutions, and other external partners. Building investigative capacity is another key responsibility—you will provide training and guidance to junior investigators and staff on misconduct detection and investigation procedures.
You will also develop and champion preventive measures to reduce fraud risk, identify emerging fraud patterns, and recommend strategic actions to mitigate threats to the organisation. Your role includes recommending improvements to investigation procedures and tools, engaging with clients effectively, and communicating investigation risks and findings to WV management in a timely, persuasive manner. You will help align investigative goals with World Vision 2030 objectives through strategic collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, all while promoting a Christ-centered investigative environment.
What We're Looking For
You must hold a bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Criminal Justice, Finance, or a closely related field. A minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in investigation, auditing, law, or project management within international organisations is required. Prior experience conducting investigations at World Vision International is highly preferred.
Strong capabilities in investigation, research, analytical thinking, and computer forensics are essential, along with excellent oral and written communication skills. You must demonstrate fluency in English; proficiency in Portuguese or local Kenyan languages is advantageous. Completion of a formal law enforcement investigation training programme is required. Professional certifications—such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CA (Chartered Accountant), or CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner)—are expected.
You should be comfortable working in a global environment and stressful conditions, with demonstrated ability to operate effectively in challenging settings. Knowledge of WVI business systems and operations is an added advantage. You must be willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 40 percent of the time.
