Job Description
TECHNICAL SUPPORT NIS AND HOLISTIC PLANNING CONSULTANT, GPD/HEALTH IMMUNIZATION
Position Overview
UNICEF's Immunization Section within the Global Program Division is recruiting a Technical Support Consultant to deliver strategic and analytical expertise to the New Vaccine Introduction, Integrated Delivery and Reach Team. This seven-month remote position offers the opportunity to shape immunization outcomes across multiple countries, with occasional travel as required.
About This Opportunity
As immunization remains critical to child health and survival, UNICEF partners with governments, Gavi, WHO, and other stakeholders to strengthen vaccine introduction systems and ensure equitable access to new and underutilized vaccines. With the rollout of Gavi 6.0 and growing country demand for technical support, UNICEF is establishing a roster of senior technical experts to provide evidence-based guidance on vaccine portfolio optimization, health systems strengthening, and integration into primary health care frameworks.
Your Role
You will provide direct technical expertise to Gavi-eligible low- and middle-income countries on Vaccine Portfolio Optimization and Prioritization (VPOP) processes. Key responsibilities include strengthening planning, coordination, and strategy design for new vaccine introduction; ensuring VPOP outputs inform National Immunization Strategy (NIS) updates or development; and supporting countries in building holistic Gavi 6.0 applications for the 2026-2030 funding period. UNICEF is recruiting five primary consultants while establishing a pre-screened roster of qualified experts available for short-term or intermittent technical assistance based on programmatic needs.
What We're Looking For
Education: Master's degree or higher qualification in Public Health, Global Health, Epidemiology, Medicine, or Health Policy and Management
Experience: Minimum eight years of professional experience in immunization program design and management, new vaccine introduction, and health systems strengthening within low- and middle-income country contexts. You must demonstrate proven experience supporting Gavi-eligible countries on vaccine introduction or related health systems processes.
Skills: Exceptional analytical, coordination, and communication abilities with capacity to translate complex technical information into actionable decisions. Fluency in English is required; French is required; and proficiency in Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, or other UN languages is advantageous.
Your Application
Submit the following documents through UNICEF's Talent Management System: updated TMS profile and CV, cover letter, financial proposal, and detailed technical proposal. Your technical proposal should outline your strategic approach to VPOP processes, NIS integration, and Gavi 6.0 support, including relevant experience, proposed methodology, indicative workplan, coordination approach, and added value to the assignment.
