Job Description
UI/UX Engineer (Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph Clearance Agreement Required)
North Point Technology
North Point Technology is seeking a talented UI/UX Engineer to contribute to a mission-critical national security initiative within the Intelligence Community. This position bridges user experience design, interface engineering, and operational requirements, demanding an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and the ability to successfully complete a Polygraph examination. You will collaborate with software engineers, systems architects, product leadership, test specialists, and mission stakeholders to transform intricate operational demands into responsive, accessible, and robust user interfaces that empower mission users to navigate sophisticated systems and data with greater efficiency and effectiveness.
What You'll Do
You will lead the design and development of contemporary, user-friendly, and responsive interfaces for mission-critical applications by translating user requirements, operational workflows, and functional specifications into practical UI/UX solutions. Your responsibilities include creating reusable UI components, design patterns, and standards that ensure consistency and long-term maintainability across the program, building and refining interactive prototypes and concept demonstrations to test ideas with key stakeholders, and partnering with software teams to guarantee accurate and efficient design implementation. Additionally, you will assess current interfaces to identify enhancement opportunities in usability, accessibility, and responsiveness, work alongside test engineers to validate interface functionality and user workflows, contribute to technical dialogue surrounding UI/UX best practices, and actively participate in Agile activities including PI Planning, backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives.
Required Qualifications
Development experience building modern web-based interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript or TypeScript. Background with Python in UI or full-stack development contexts. Proficiency with contemporary UI frameworks including React, Angular, Vue.js, or Django. Knowledge of responsive design principles, component-based architecture, and modern front-end engineering methodologies. Demonstrated ability to translate complex requirements and user workflows into effective interface designs. Experience participating in Agile, Scrum, or SAFe environments. Familiarity with CI/CD platforms such as GitLab CI or Jenkins and collaboration tools like JIRA and Confluence. Exposure to cloud platforms including AWS C2S or GovCloud environments plus containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Understanding of secure coding principles and government system accreditation frameworks including RMF and STIGs.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong experience with React and TypeScript alongside modern front-end tooling. Background developing or consuming RESTful APIs and integrating UI applications with backend services. Knowledge of design systems, reusable component libraries, and comprehensive UI standards. Proficiency with design software such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch. Familiarity with accessibility requirements including Section 508 compliance and WCAG standards. Experience building dashboards, data visualizations, geospatial displays, maps, or highly interactive mission-specific interfaces. Hands-on experience with automated UI testing frameworks including Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium. Background working on intelligence workflow applications, advanced data visualization projects, or mission-focused systems. Capability to mentor and lead technical initiatives within cross-functional Agile teams.
Required Education and Clearance
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline, or a Master's degree in a comparable field. Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with demonstrated ability to successfully pass a Polygraph examination. U.S. citizenship required. For positions requiring federal security clearance, your clearance level must appear prominently on your resume.
